Fury Warrior Core Changes
While many talents have been added or removed, Fury Warrior’s core abilities remain largely intact and are even improved in Midnight. The Slayer and Thane rotations are expected to remain similar to The War Within, thanks to no changes in core abilities.
The biggest removal for Warriors is several talented abilities, which also reduces setup complexity for effective rotations. The biggest gains come in utility:
- Piercing Howl and Battlefield Commander provide two Wind Rush-like speed increases.
- Champion’s Spear has been redesigned as a mass grip.
- Interpose now boosts mobility with a minor defensive effect.
- Pummel has a reduced cooldown.
These improvements enhance group utility beyond raw damage and defense.
Warrior Class Changes
Developer Notes: Since Dragonflight, Warriors have been overloaded with cooldowns, primarily from the class tree. Midnight aims to make the Warrior class tree more interesting, with unique effects and utility options.
Key changes:
- Thunderous Roar removed
- Avatar moved to specialization tree (used by Mountain Thane)
- Champion’s Spear reworked as a utility ability
New major additions:
- Battlefield Commander (moved from PvP talents)
- Last Stand as a passive emergency heal
- Anger Management moved in from specialization tree
Talent updates:
- Barbaric Training: Slam, Whirlwind, Thunder Clap damage +10% (was 20%), crit damage +5% (was 10%)
- Champion’s Spear: Can be reactivated to leap to its location
- Crushing Force: Now a 1-point talent
- Honed Reflexes: Reduces cooldowns by 10% (was 5%). Interrupting an enemy increases damage dealt by 5% for 10 sec
- Intimidating Shout: Causes target to cower, others flee at 70% reduced movement speed. Target cap removed
- Piercing Howl: Also increases all allies’ movement speed by 30% for 4 sec within 12 yards
- Rallying Cry: Health bonus +50% when not in a raid
- Shattering Throw & Wrecking Throw: Range reduced to 25 yards (was 30)
- Thunder Clap: Automatically applies Rend to 5 targets if talented
Removed talents:
- Avatar, Berserker’s Torment, Blood and Thunder, Cacophonous Roar, Champion’s Might, Concussive Blows, Immovable Object, Menace, Piercing Challenge, Seismic Reverberation, Sidearm, Thunderous Roar, Thunderous Words, Titan’s Torment, Unstoppable Force, Uproar
Added talents:
- Anger Management – Every 20 Rage spent reduces Recklessness and Avatar cooldown by 1 sec
- Fearless – Berserker Rage cooldown -50%, removes movement-impairing effects
- Field Dressing – Healing received +3%, self-healing +10%
- Interpose – Run toward allies, absorb 30% of damage taken by allies for 8 sec or until you take 20% max HP
- Javelineer – Certain abilities apply Hamstring, Heroic Throw silences non-player targets
- Last Stand – Below 20% HP, increase max health +30%, instant heal, 4 min cooldown
- Rend – Strike all targets within 8 yards for Physical damage, causes Bleed
- Resonant Voice – Shout duration +20%
- Retaliation – Chance to strike melee attacker for Physical damage
- Battlefield Commander – Shouts have extra effects
Shout improvements:
- Battle Shout: +3% attack power
- Rallying Cry: +2% health, +3 sec duration
- Piercing Howl: Radius doubled
- Berserker Shout: Radius +8 yards
- Intimidating Shout: Cooldown -15 sec
Fury Warrior Changes
Developer Notes: Midnight aims to refine Fury’s core builder/spender gameplay, simplify Sudden Death conditions, make Critical Strike more valuable, improve AOE talents, reinforce Bloodthirst, and simplify rotation conditions involving Enrage and major cooldowns like Bladestorm.
Removed abilities and talents:
- Onslaught, Ravager, Unhinged, Titanic Rage, Ashen Juggernaut, Slaughtering Strikes, Single-Minded Fury (replaced by 2H → 1H weapon transmog)
Talent changes:
- Bladestorm: Generates 5 Rage per strike (was 10)
- Bloodborne: Targets struck by Bloodthirst take +20% Bleed damage for 8 sec
- Bloodcraze: Increases next Bloodthirst crit damage
- Critical Thinking: Raging Blow crit chance +5%/10%, crit damage +5%/10%
- Cruelty: 2-point talent, Raging Blow damage +10% per point while Enraged
- Deft Experience: Bloodthirst chance to Enrage +10%/20%, extends Enrage by 0.5/1 sec
- Frenzy: Rampage increases Haste 1%/2% for 12 sec, stacks overlap
- Improved Bloodthirst: 2-point, +5% damage and crit per point
- Improved Whirlwind: Next 4 single-target attacks strike 4 extra targets (was 2)
- Meat Cleaver : Whirlwind deals +100% damage when hitting 3+ targets and no Improved Whirlwind stacks
- Odyn’s Fury: Now Enrages, generates 20 Rage (was 15)
- Powerful Enrage: Enrage increases Mastery +15%, Leech +3%
- Rampage: Replaces Slam
- Recklessness: Rage generation +50% (was 100%)
Added Apex/Spec Talents:
- Rampaging Berserker – During Recklessness, crits fuel strength +1% per stack, lasts 20 sec post Recklessness. Reduces Rampage cost by 15/30, damage +10/20%, extends duration +2 sec
- Avatar – Transform, +20% damage, +5% speed for 20 sec
- Deep Wounds – Execute inflicts high damage over 6 sec
- Executioner’s Wrath – Execute generates +5 Rage, Rampage +10% damage for 4 sec
- Kill or Be Killed – Cheat death effect for 8 sec on fatal damage, 5 min cooldown
- Ragedrinker – Bloodthirst crit restores double health, Enrages 2 sec
- Scent of Blood – Rampage increases next Bloodthirst damage +10%, stacks 2
- Surge of Adrenaline – Raging Blow cooldown reset increases auto-attack damage and speed +30% for 6 sec
- Unslaked Thirst – Bloodthirst crit increases Raging Blow damage +10% for 4 sec
Slayer Hero Talent Changes:
- Overwhelming Blades: Max stacks 5 (was 10)
- Slayer’s Dominance: 15% chance to trigger Slayer’s Strike, overlapping Executioner stacks
- Slayer’s Malice: Increases Execute & Raging Blow damage +20%
- Unrelenting Onslaught: Reduces Bladestorm cooldown per Executioner stack
- Deadly Focus: Executioner duration +6 sec
- Unhinged: Every 2 Bladestorm strikes cast Bloodthirst
- Violent Euphoria: Bladestorm grants 15% Haste for 8 sec after stopping
Mountain Thane Hero Talent Changes:
- Capacitance: During Avatar, Thunder Blast extends Avatar duration +2 sec
- Conductivity: Lightning Strike damage +10%, crit damage +10%
- Storm Surge: Avatar increases Thunder Clap damage +50%, cooldown -50%
Systems Changes
Midnight introduces:
- 3 new Hero Talents per tree
- New tier sets
- Stat squish (health/damage numbers scaled down from millions to thousands)
