Tier Set

2-Set – Mage Frost 11.1 Class Set 2pc – Your spells and abilities have a chance to hit a Jackpot! that fires a Frostbolt Volley dealing damage to your primary target and 20% of that damage to up to 8 additional targets. Casting Icy Veins always hits a Jackpot!.
4-Set – Mage Frost 11.1 Class Set 4pc – Icy Veins causes you to hit a Jackpot! at 100% effectiveness every 10 sec for 30 sec.

General Tips

Shatter

Make good use of Shatter –This is an iconic and core mechanic for Frost Mages that massively amplifies the damage your spells. Taking full advantage of it is critical to mastering Frost Mage. This means minimizing how many Shatter opportunities are wasted and prioritizing its benefits for your strongest spells.

Cooldowns

Keep Abilities on cooldown – Frost Mages have many strong cooldowns and keeping them all ticking allows using them more often.

Manage Procs

In particular, Fingers of Frost and Brain Freeze will be obtained both deterministically and randomly. Using these procs as effectively as possible is very important.

Stat Priority

Haste: Increases attack speed and spell casting speed. This also applies to pets.
Critical Strike: Chance for extra effectiveness on attacks and heals (double damage/healing).
Mastery: Increases the effectiveness of Mastery: Icicles.
Versatility: Increases damage and healing, and reduces damage taken.

1. Intellect – As with all specs, main stat will be top priority.

2. Haste – Since we are a proc based spec, more procs = more damage. So more haste will be that we can cast faster, which means more procs.

3. Critical Strike – 33.34% Critical Strike means that all spells benefiting from Shatter will crit (aka the Shatter Cap), but it is by no means required. Do not stack crit to the exclusion of all other stats; doing so will make you much weaker than a balanced spread would do.

4. Mastery – Mastery is only a good stat thanks to the Hailstones talent. If you do not have Hailstones, Mastery should generally be avoided as a stat.

5. Versatility – Flat damage & damage reduction, good for higher key survivability if needed.
